I just fell in love with cars when I was a kid and haven't changed. I have been with Subaru South Blvd service department for over 21 years and have really enjoyed the people I work with and all our loyal customers. We try to keep it simple and treat our guest as family and take care of their needs."

John is from Charlotte, yes we have a local! His favorite thing about the automotive industry is meeting and interacting with all types of people. He has two children, a boy and a girl ages 27 and 23. He is an avid billiards player and enjoys playing with a local league.

  • Larry Hopper

We are very pleased to have Larry on our team off experienced technicians. Larry grew up in the Charlotte area working on the family's cars on Sunday afternoons with his father. From there his interest in the automotive industry grew. He received a full scholarship to Guilford Tech in Greensboro, NC where he received his associates degree in applied science in automotive technology.

What about Subaru does Larry like? "Subaru has the best stability out of any car I have ever driven. When you drive a Subaru on a rainy day through a couple of puddles you see it shine!" Hobby-wise Larry enjoys hunting, fishing and working on cars.

  • Ed Byrd
    Parts Manager

Ed has been in the Parts industry for "my whole life", he says. He enjoys working in the Parts department because, "it's a detailed job which keeps you challenged and focused. I also like being able to help customers solve their problems, whether they are looking for an obscure part for their vehicle or need an accessory to better fit their lifestyle." He mentioned that he likes how Subaru has a wide variety of accessories available.

Beyond working as a Parts Manager, Ed has a wife, two grown children and a grand daughter. He enjoys fishing and camping. "Camping in the mountains of NC was an annual event in my household. I love how the area in the mountains is so remote and cooler in the summer." It should be noted that Ed is a 'real' camper meaning he sleeps in a tent on the ground, no RV or air mattress for this rural family!
